Elsa has a blue deck and being over 40 years old there's a lot of scuffs and places where the gelcoat has worn away showing brownish patches. As far as I can tell, she's never been painted.

I met a bloke the other day who quoted me about £300 to prepare and put a couple of coats of paint on, but without taking off the deck fittings or stanchions etc. This might make her smarter but I'd then be left with a painted boat that I'd have to repaint every two or three years.

I don't really mind the scruffy look as she's a fun boat for enjoying sailing, not for gazing at. But I wondered if anyone had any views or experience of painting the deck and how they got on?
