The Marchwood Rally
27th June 2009
Marchwood Yacht Club has very
kindly agreed to host a visit from the PSSA on 27th June 2009.
Occupying part of the site of an old Naval armaments depot, the Club is situated
on the western shore of the River Test opposite the docks. When approaching the
VTS control tower at the top of Southampton Water at the junction of the Rivers
Test and Itchen, proceed up the western arm past Cracknore Hard until the river
bends to port just before the main container terminal. The Club is situated on the
western side and has an ‘H’ shaped pontoon attached to the shore.
First HW at Southampton is 1512 BST but there is a stand (in fact the tide rises
slightly) until approximately 1730. I aim to be there from mid afternoon and will
be able to assist with berthing.
In anticipation that the weather will be kind to us the aim is to have a barbeque
on the "beach" so please bring your own food for this. The Club has a well stocked
and reasonably priced bar so all you need is something to eat! The Club have generously
offered to supply the barbeques and food can be cooked in the clubhouse kitchen
and eaten indoors if the weather does not permit eating al fresco.
The pontoon is relatively small and some idea of numbers will be appreciated so
please let me know you are coming.
If you have any questions please contact me.
